Congratulations to all our U16 Girls who played in the win against Pannal on Wednesday 4th June.

The history books will reocrd a BRCC win by 8 wickets but looking behind the facts there were contributions from the entire team and some very pleasing efforts.

The Skipper Danielle celebrated her birthday but lost the toss to Pannal who elected to bat. Opening the bowling Naomi Pratt and Florence Haines bowled extremley tight spells conceding 3 and 9 runs respectivley. First change Emmy Bryett and Lauren Oxtoby also kept it tight and Lauren picked up the only two wickets to fall. Further bowling contributions from Ellie Walton and Laura Scarlett supported an excellent closing spell from Chloe Dinsdale who bowled 4 overs for 4 runs. The tight bowling was backed up in the field by excellent work from all the team and a special mention goes also to first time wicket keepers Laura and Emmy who were very tidy.

Pannal finished on 59 for 2 off the 20 overs.

In reply the two openers Naomi and Florence started brightly before they both fell within two balls. Florence backed up too far as Naomi clipped a shot off her legs direct to square leg who returned immedialtey to the bowler for an easy run out. In the next over Naomi was also back in the pavillion being clean bowled. With the two openers out for only 12 runs there could have been problems but there was little concern in the end as a 48 run partnership from Chloe and Danielle brought the team home with 4 overs to spare. Both players contributing 15 runs with tha bat.

This was a great performance all round.

Thanks should also go to the Pannal team who not only played the game well and in excellent spirit but also went to great efforts to get the game on as the Weeton and Huby wicket was under water just 24 hours before. We look forward to hosting them at Ben Rhydding for what should be another close match in a few weeks time.

Player of the match: Chloe Dinsdale - untroubled and commanding  with the bat and a very accurate and tight bowling spell.
